About the Photographer
I’ve always embraced the free spirit in me which was ignited as a young traveler by our family’s trips to Canada escaping the hot North Carolina summers. My early love for adventure eventuated into owning my own travel agency after an interesting stint in a national television commercial production company, a playful time in the Virgin Islands as a disc jockey, and work as a casting agent. My varied careers all had a creative bent to them incorporating expression, curiosity, and imagination, and an openness to new experiences.
Being a people-and-place enthusiast, my eagerness for exploring the geography, diversity, and culture of other lands has taken me all over the world. In 1993 my wanderlust transplanted me to an amazing life in New Zealand on my llama farm overlooking the South Pacific where I photographed everything imaginable for the next twenty years. Having lived in Italy in my early twenties and then off and on for eight years, I returned to live in Veneto after my time in New Zealand. Being a born storyteller my aspiration in Italy was to write, to record the past and current adventures that had become the fabric of my life. There I revelled again in the beauty of the architecture and street scenes, in the valleys and hill towns of Tuscany, the back canals of Venice, the majesty of the Dolomites, the turquoise beaches of Puglia. My photography took second place until I realized that writing was a solitary and cloistered art and that my inspiration and joy were outside the door through the camera lens.
I have studied and worked with well-known and talented photography masters and attend as many workshops as possible, including a National Geographic photography adventure in Morocco. I travel overseas extensively to explore new destinations with my heart and my lens. My photography coupled with my wanderlust took over my life and is a constant passion for me. It has given me a clear vision into the rich reality and humanity of our world in a way of loving, feeling, and seeing that can be captured forever.
When I am in the US, I am anchored in beautiful Lake Oswego, Oregon exploring and photographing the natural beauties of the Pacific Northwest with its amazing mountains, rivers, lakes, deserts, and coastline.
I hope that my travels and the sights, people, and animals depicted here take you away for a moment and give you the joy and sense of adventure that it gave me in capturing these images.
